So, you'll be able to mint an NFT:
Even if... you're a creator who's never minted an NFT before;
Even if... you've minted NFTs before, but you want to shift to a more user-friendly platform;
Even if... you've only minted NFTs using code and you need a creator-friendly platform;
And we'll do it in 10 minutes or less.
Let's dive in.
How to Mint an NFT on Kollect
Kollect was built on CKB , which is the Nervos network's blockchain token. The Nervos network's CKB token is built to be a universal blockchain network.
What does this mean? In simple terms, CKB is meant to store value like Bitcoin and execute smart contracts like Ethereum.
So, that makes it super simple to create dApps and NFTs alike. But let's just stick to minting an NFT on Kollect for now.
Step #1: Sign Up for Kollect Marketplace
Head over to the Kollect marketplace.
Sign up for Kollect with your email and request an OTP to be sent to your email:
And then, set a password for your account. Once that's done, you'll have to digitally sign a message to confirm your identity:
You'll see a popup with a message to sign:
Hit Sign and in the next screen, the popup prompts you to set a 6 digit PIN:
And when you're done verifying your identity, set your display name on Kollect:
That's it! You've successfully signed up for Kollect. You'll get redirected to your dashboard and we'll move on to step #2.
Step #2: Adding CKB to Your Kollect Wallet
Minting an NFT costs 400 CKB. So, before we can get started with minting an NFT, you'll have to add 400 CKB to your Kollect Wallet.
In your dashboard, head over to My Wallet and scan the QR or send the CKB to the wallet address.
The cool thing about Kollect is that, unlike other platforms, you don't have to set up and connect a Metamask wallet. You can simply send the CKB from anywhere to the Kollect Wallet.
If you're new to this, here's an article on how to buy CKB.
Step #3: Upload and Sell your NFT
In the top navigation bar, click on the Mint NFT button and start by uploading your NFT:
You can set a Title for your NFT here, and if you'd like to add it to a marketplace, you can do that as well. Every option is about filling out a simple form.
This is where you get to see the power and flexibility of Kollect. You can create an NFT out of almost any type of digital asset including:
- Art
- Music
- Virtual Worlds
- Collectibles
And even domain names!
How cool is that?
On the same screen, you can set how many copies you want to create for your NFT.
If you want to create something one-of-a-kind, then just leave it empty. But if you want to allow copies, each copy costs an extra 200 CKB.
Next, you'll need to set up the selling terms for your NFTs:
You can either sell the NFT as a Fixed Price asset or as an Auction. If it's a Fixed Price sale, all you have to do is set when the sale date goes live and the price in CKB:
You can see the value in USD of your NFT in the interface as well.
If you're running an Auction sale, you'll need to set the start and end dates for the auction and the starting price for your auction:
When you're done, just hit Sell! Your NFT will get uploaded to the marketplace within the hour.
